hot from the oven

Finally, the cert is out from the oven after sitting on the plane for so long. =D Overall, I quite like the cert, especially the silver sparkling UCSIU sticker down there :)

Training: DISC vs MBTI

September is superbly eventful. Apart from the departure of friends, it's also a month of big project and various training across the weeks. I felt terrific after the completion of both trainings. Love them all!
Ever since Year 2 when I finished the subject of Personality, I just got attached to human behavioral and personalities studies. Having working in UCSIU, we have the opportunity to enhance our learning through external training. This time round, I got to go for TWO, my favourite DISC and MBTI! Both are the psychological testings on personality. With the certificate, it's even more worthwhile because you get to conduct workshop within this field.
Thanks to Dr. Evelyn Biles. She made me realise and have a better understanding of myself. She shared so much of her experiences and she widened my understanding towards human. The last thing she told me was "It's time to use your knowledge after this training" which i found it so true. Human is a very complicated organism. I wish to be a more understanding being, to accept people around me as who they are.
Often than not, we thought he or she is such a nuisance, in fact, what makes them to act sucha way is simply because the environment and their reaction upon the subject matter. Thus, don't dwell or blame the person and to take it too personally. This is something that I've learned. The world is relational. We all need each other no matter how. Accept this fact and we'll make a better living. :)
i was thrilled when i received this certificate!
officially a trainer of DISC! =D
more than happier as compared to my degree cert. Haha!
this is the booklet of interpretation of MBTI
MBTI is widely used across the world. Corporate world uses this to recognize and have a better understanding towards the employee.
Like what the trainer said, "Your result will cause the company to either hire you or fire you." Hehe~ well said. However, personally, I find it unethical to label your employee such way because it restricts the employee to express the talent.
Despite of draining out my two weekends for training, but I guess it's never a waste.
Wish to learn more next time! :)

life stories with all the punctuations

Life is always filled with lotsa punctuation marks. God creates it such a way for us to explore life in a very unique way.
Sometimes, we give it a comma (,) because there might have some unfinished stories to further the sentence or some add-on to it.
Sometimes, we put it a period of full stop (.) because we know there's nothing much we can do for now, it's time for a completion for this phase of life.
Sometimes, we have ellipses (...) because it indicates a pause in life. Hmmm. We all do need a rest afterall. We ain't saint :)
Sometimes, we insert question mark (?) because we might bump into some challenges and problems in life that we have no idea about it.
Sometimes, we will see exclaimation mark (!) because there's always ups and downs in life. :) Whether it is a distress or a eustress surprise, it's all depending on the environment and the whole situation and your self-perception on things in life.
Just random. Nothing serious. :)

commercial break for daddy, mummy and sis!

I know it's been quite a while. Just to share my happiness with everybody :) I got them all scanned though the studio personnel doesn't give softcopies to us! *evil smiles* I love these few photos with my family. Hope there're many more to come! Wait for my sis and my masters! :) wooohooo! years to go! =D Love my family! *muacks!

the adventure begins...

The scary short semester with its' schedule and stress level remains.
Fret not. I'm no longer a student :)

Being a staff for students is also a horrendous period because there're a lot of preparation to do. Many decisions have to be made and many many hurdles you have to hop, provided the presence and the absence of blessings from all. Haha! :)

Mind is wandering around when it's time to rest. The eyes are closed yet the brain is so active like the bumble bee. Indeed fully utilise the two hemispheres of the brain to think of two different events of life (which doesn't sound like a good news though).

Awards Day is over. It's been two years. How time flies. Reminiscing those days where I was still an emcee but this year round with a different role. Despite of all the stressors, it was indeed a very precious opportunity to learn and to get in touch with different people. Learned up some new skills and brushed up a lil of my event management skills. Well, it's good to start as a newbie and learn. Pick up from your fallen place and strive for betterment! Yay? :)
Next up, Mental Health Week is here! People! :) Come and support my students! It's time to return to the place where I belong with powerful charge! :)

Caryn's Farewell

September, a month of departure. So many people are leaving for further studies. Mixed feeling to send off a friend one by one, at the same time, we are all happy for each other. Hope they all will come back once again to serve the country.
So this time round was Caryn, another girl leaving for UK. Caryn is a very friendly person, everything also ok-ok one. Gonna miss her laughter and her presence in our council gang. Wish you all the best! You'll be dearly missed by all! =) Don't jealous if we have gathering and outing without you. :)
All of us :)
nice photo kan? :)
i think the background played an important role. haha!
Caryn and me! :))
Wishing you all the best! :)

Bucket of Hope

A good friend of mine started her blog entitled "Bucket of Hope". It's nothing personal but it's definately a kind gesture of her to start with such a unique intention. She hopes people write in to her, to share the problems with her, then she'll post those problems-answers through the blog as a form of sharing. Of course, anonymity is retained.
Trash your troubles into the bucket and collect hope from within. :) Want to share? Curious to know more? Why not write to her and start browsing the page? I believe it's gonna be a worthwhile sharing! :)

a phenomena

Sis and I were heading back home last morning. It was first day of Raya. We stopped by the Rest House to take a rest. Alone, I headed to the ladies. I saw a little chinese girl, squating down quietly at a corner, staring at something black on the pink-tiled floor while her mum was washing hands.

Mummy asked, "What are you looking at?" (in Mandarin)
Girl turned her head, pointing at the object and said, "Mummy, there's a butterfly!" With her broad innocent smile, her mum grinned back at her. Then, here came 2 lil indian girls, holding hands, pointing at the butterfly and telling each other that "Hey, there's a butterfly! Do you see it?"
The picture was so beautiful. Nearly close to perfection if there's another malay girl in it. :) I thought to myself, unity definately comes from human. Children are the assets of the country. Who said 1Malaysia cannot achieve? What we need is to change the mentality and stop polluting the younger generation with the selfish thoughts. Can we? It's time to start again and YOU are the one to begin with.

Random thoughts

A friend mentioned in FB saying that
"A counsellor should appreciate the beauty of life and to treasure lives."

A simple phrase like that makes me ponder for quite a few seconds. Oh yes, life is forever beautiful when you think it is. :) All of us are the precious being, given a chance to live a life. Thus treasuring life means more than anything. Start to count your blessings right now because it will support you mentally, psychologically and emotionally.

"There's no second chance of living, but there's always a first day to start a living like the way it should be lived."

it's on the way...

Looking back on my posts, I think life has been quite eventful ever since I started working. It's always filled with pocketful of feeling, packed with ups and downs, failures and success, rocks and trees. It never failed for me to move on, to push a lil bit harder and to strive for a better result.
Dated back in someday, I told myself i'll go for 3 camps a year. It was one of my wishes in the list. Miri marked the 3rd camp for this year. To me, it is a special bonus. It's also a hard decision to juggle between both priviledged chances. Maybe some might find me absurb, come on, it's just nothing bout it. For me, it meant more than just a tiny peanut.
Sitting down and looking at those photos, then it only came to my realisation that I've achieved my lil wish in a very conscious yet unconscious way. Never did i realised I could come so far. For me, it's a great achievement, but it's never an ending note. I find camp is really the best avenue for imparting values to the students. Nothing beats camp's power. That's why I like them a lot. Nonetheless, I would like to try and explore some different ways too! :)
I'm blessed to be with great people during my projects. These people are forever helpful and kind. Plus, they covered my ass when the sky falls down onto the team. Plus, running a project always stir your thinking. It gradually makes me grow a lil. But then again, how long can this be? Well i always tell myself, it's time to be independent from people. Well, Miri was a great training ground for me :) to get away from my comfort zone and tried any means over somewhere you don't know, and meet someone you hardly know.
Just a thought.
Nothing emo :)
.
Selamat Hari Raya.
-.- and i'm having a flu.

Miri: Ready! Set! Go! Camp

It was a 120 students camp, focusing on study, catch their dreams and team building, entitled Ready! Set! Go! Camp in Miri. Our main organizer was GES (Global Education Services) while UCSI U was the sponsor of the camp. It's my first time to have camp inside a hotel, I feel the youth nowadays are so blessed in a very materialistic way.
With a theme as such, guess you guys can figure out the main objective. It was to get these youth ready for exam and for future. Having to work for about a year, I guess running camp is my greatest passion. I get to see different faces, different youth to talk to, get to inspire (maybe?) them in one way or another, assist them to discover themselves in various ways, to treasure life, to treat people around us in a better way.
Was the camp commander for this time round
almost running out of voice for the first day. o_O no kidding.
but I was thrilled to see sucha big group of students and all of them were there for the camp!

had our first ice breaking "Let's Hula!"

Flying Carpet and be the Aladdin!

Bonus round, those kids were seriously into the scoring system that we had for them. See how excited they were! :))

outdoor activity: Let's Jump!

outdoor activity: Millipedes (I was touched when i saw this picture because I know when people fall, there's always the team spirit to buck them up.)

outdoor activity: Rock 'n Roll

outdoor activity: Monsoon is here.

Pool version of Human Knot was fun :)

a night to be remembered: I pranked on these 10 september babies. All of them got a shock of their life when they heard me said they had offended a few rules set. They were touched when the team celebrated their birthdays :)

morning exercise! yawn. I skipped this because I really couldn't tahan after few restless days of preparation.

My session: Fun & Frizzles of Study. I realised I kinda like this topic because I feel it's close to me. :)

doing the testings :)

Group Photo- mini me mini us!Finally, we departed from the resort around 3pm. Off for lunch then to the airport. Those 5 from the left was the GES peeps. They were a great bunch of people who are so thoughtful and helpful. They really treated us like one of them. :)

All in all, I feel this mission was a good kickstart for the youth of Miri. It was the sense of fulfilment to see people treasured all your preparation, your hardwork and sweat. Great campers like them are really the rare breeds. They were not only participative, they were so respectful, obedient and contented in anything they have in the camp. Seriously, they're much more better than me, than everybody back in the West. I don't need much, a word of "thank you" from the campers seriously meant so much for me. All the best to you guys! :)

Miri: Accommodation

It was another great experience to stay in Marriot Resort & Spa in Miri throughout the trip. Thanks to company :) It was a starry hotel. The accommodation was in satisfactory level for me. However, the food and service wasn't that starry though.

Miri has a very significant "mascot".
these two seahorses.
According to them, one is called Mi while another one is called Ri.
Together, it's called MIRI! :)
The big pool of Marriot
the resort block that me and my colleagues stayed.
there're a few blocks as such and we're situated at the last block.
so far away! @_@"
at the back of our resort has a mini park like these...
and yes, it's by the sea.
=)
this unit belongs to me and kershin.
oooo, and she brought her duck over. @@"
Stay tune...
Ready! Set! Go! Camp :)

Miri: Food

The most fortunate thing in Miri i would say it's food. We spent our free time (brunch and dinner) to try some local food, not the hotel type of food. It's forever gastronomic :) When hunger strikes, food is always the best medicine and motivation after a long day.
Must Try No. 1: KOLO MEE!
and it's only at rm2.50! @_@"
black version- black sauce, minced meat, chili
original version
i had 2 types within the trip.

Miri Laksa. =)

Red sauce lou shu fan!

this is superbly interesting
the starchy thingy is actually a product like kuey teow.

We had 2 dinners for free in Miri coz the restaurant belongs to a colleague's mother. The mother was so accomodative and friendly. She served us a lot of good food. Few of them as below.

Red wine mee sua :) yum! Must Try No. 2: PAKU PAKIS! me likey! :)
Miri also have a lot of weirdo drinks.
Tiga Masam is one of them.
Must Try No. 3: Teh C Special aka 3 layer tea
SUPERB! *thumb's up*

Steve ordered 3 types of toasts.
When it's served, our jaws almost dropped.
SO HUGE! @_@"
and we couldn't finished after the kolo mee. *burp
Chocolate cheese
4 in 1: King of the day! Ham :)
I think East Malaysia also famous with Kuih Lapis
Miri is well known of Kuih Batik :)
and btw, it's vinegar with red chillies.
hardly use soy sauce. o_O

Stay tune...
