many many random

random 1:
never knew i could pay so much attention on certain words that people had for me. to the point that i totally lost myself in the middle of the sea. i judge my own ability. i judge my self-esteem and confidence level. never knew those words could be so impactful, to the point it hurts. there goes the saying, words hurt more than an action. how true is that =x pls don't sound so noble when the expression of your words are not equivalent to your actions. somebody, please brainwash me. "rebuild, shanna. rebuild" =)
random 2:
today i learned couple of values from a colleague of mine. she's good in dealing with people. hardly had time to chat with her. =) she taught me how to communicate wisely with different people. how to treat students, parents and officers. shared with me some life values and lessons. true enough, sometimes, we are just incapable in pleasing everyone around. as long as we're consciously aware of what we're doing, to what extent we're doing, that considers adequate. but that does not stop you from doing more in life. =)
random 3:
selective hearing/learning/talking. a lot of time, disasters happen due to miscommunication or improper action. as a neutral figure, standing in front of different people, we have to filter and select certain content that we register in mind before it's being stored in long term memory. yes. we have to. it's good to select wisely and to learn objectively. =)
random 4:
being empathetic. if u were to ask me, are u an empathetic person? i shall answer, i am yet to be one. sometimes, it's good to stand in the middle of two or on top of the hill, to look at things in a wider horizon and perspectives. to stand in a person's shoe, it's never a piece of cake. you can only experience it, when you do it. this one, i agree. =)
random 5:
whatever we do, if there's passion, we can sail in everywhere. seriously. do not give up, never try never know. =))
random 6:
blessed by all the chances given for me to learn something new. will try my very best. just think, life is getting interesting, when we try something new. =D
random 7:
a friend asked, "shanna, have you tried this?", "no.", "how about this?"..."no."!@%$#$@# "shanna, what is your life all about?", "..." maybe i am yet to have a life on my own. but hey, i believe i am here, existing in this earth, with my very own vision and mission. Just that, we have different version of 'em. Just, accept me for being me. =)
random 8:
i am a very verbal, bubbly person. words are big to me. they really are. sometimes, just a line of encouragement, seriously merely a sentence, it can make me over the moon. thank you friends for being so supportive, and my family members too. thanks for affirming me. =)
random 9:
life, living with competitive element, is healthy, when there's no bias, no favouritism, no comparison and no judgment. should there be any one of them, it's no longer a healthy one.
random 10:
i am ready to learn and fall, in order for me to capture the things i've yet to learn. =D gambateh!

first attempt

Today, I had my very first referral case.
Well, it's something new for me. =)
Firstly, to grab the opportunity to see how other counsellors did.
Then, my chance.
Tadaaaa! =)
However, I thought it wasn't really a fulfilling one.
I didn't seem to enlighten him enough.
Hmmm... it's my first trial.
Forgive me.
Some thoughts of mine are here again.
It's never easy to deal with so many people,
with different background,
even different culture and nationality.
certain living style, may somehow influence one's study life here.
Just...
try to accept people around me.
and try to assist and facilitate them in anyway I can. =)

for dad and mum

i think i hadn't posted about the 2009 last day spent with my sista... i think dad and mum must be very curious where we went. =X hehe! ya kah? =D

parents' beautiful ladies. =))
So, dad and mum, here we were during New Year Eve. We're obedient enough, we didn't go for countdown. Haha! But we hunted for good food at Italiannes which burnt my purse a big hole. =) Once a year, never mind. *muka pun hijau*
i ordered this. =)
mizz ordered her salmon.

Happy New Year to Dad and Mum too! ^^

it's the beginning...

it's 9 Jan 2010 now and this indicates i've been working for over a month. Disastrous December, fatigue mind and body for everybody, yet I had an eventful and fruitful working days till now. Thanks to APA (Academic Performance Audit) for university ranking purpose. O_o"
Thought of sharing some overdue pics which I just gotten yesterday
the Awards Day aftermath within Student Affairs.
number 1 =D
I have been very grateful in working under such environment. It's good to wake up in the morning, seeing your lovely colleagues, enjoying the laughters together. At the very beginning of my part time job under SDCU, mother had mentioned to me that passion is a life-long factor for a person to maintain and be persistent in a career. I was motivated and i am still motivated, seeing the ohm of everybody, in helping students to maintain their emotional well being, or just a simple change of their attitudes or characters into a more positive ones. That's more than contented for a counsellor to look up to in students.
left to right: our mother, er-jie and da-jie~ =D
another intern with us this year, Mana, from UPM. =))
Boss thought that we are under a high degree of stressor, thus, a get-together dinner was organized. It was a simple but meaningful one. The gratitude shown by our colleagues was wonderful. We were being complimented for this light hearted session. I am glad that our team had cheered them up a lil after all the hassle for about a month plus.
a table of 18. =)

seriously, this pic seems like we're conducting christmas carol.
bravo SDCU! ^^

Student Affairs Team at Look Out Point during dinner gathering this month.

climbed up to the hill for a better city night view.
Can't wait for the audit to end. Seriously can't wait. =) Working life will be a great one as long as you have great companions along the journey.

Girls' Talk

You know, being a girl, there's always priviledge. If you were to ask me, what is the fortunate thing being a girl, I would answer, "We can have enjoyable girls' talk." I like to talk, yes I do. I am talkative and bubbly to friends whom I am closer with. =)) I may be reserved to people whom I just got to know, but once we're on the same channel, I will be the noisy parker. Apart from crap(s) that I enjoy in conversation, there're also quality moments that we share with each other. Sometimes, you just can't get this kind of treatment in guys. Girls share emotional expressions. We may share the same frequency. That's how girls click together.
Today, I had the chance to share some quality moments with my colleagues, which, personally, I, myself thought that it was a big leap of improvement. To me, it's just more than a working relationship, but also, friendships that instilled in, blended within ourselves. I like this kinda relationship. It's healthy and it's wonderful to share your stuffs together. It also had shown how much trust we have for each other.
And same goes to today, where a friend of mine just commented that, friendships are fragile. It's like over after our uni period. I wanted to counter him but I didn't. Is it because I somehow felt the same way too? Hmmm. However, I believe there's always exception. I wish to keep certain friendships in my heart always. Dealing with friendship isn't as easy as it seems, at least, a quality friendship isn't a piece of cake to me. It needs double effort from both sides. It just needs a lot of energy to build up the bridge together. Many of you may think that friendship just sound silly because you have your own relationship to tend to, but think about it, who do you turn to when your loved one isn't there?
To people out there, thanks for being a friend to me.
I really appreciate it.

Jo's Night

We always got Joshua a belated birthday although his actual birthday is on 30 December. =X His 2008 celebration was in 2009 & his 2009 celebration was in 2010, yesterday! *muahahhah* Nonetheless, it's better than none. =D 30/12 is too strategic, it's holiday!

It's been ages since we ALL get together and had such amount of fun together, till wee hour. It's good to have fun sometimes, to kill away all your stress, forget about everything and FOCUS on the joyous moment with people around you, what's more your family? :)

So, steamboat was our dinner while the mango cake was the dessert. Hehe! =D We had fun with another 250g of cake. =D Bet it with the cards. The loser would have to finish a spoonful of cake. Surprisingly, I didn't have have to eat the cake. O_o" means, I am the winner? =D Oh btw! Did i tell you that I smashed a spoon of mango cake to joshua's nose? *ngek ngek ngek* FUN! ^^"

Happy Birthday, Joshua! Thanks for being sucha crappy & helpful friend always. =))

the remembrance

When i was in teenagehood, I had this wishful thinking- to frame my jerseys up and put 'em on my room's wall *narcissistic*. Well, it's solely for myself to feel the games I've played after so long. Moreover, to recall all the memories with my team players cum good friends.

I got in touch with volleyball in Form 1 during Sports Carnival and that's when my house won the game. We shed a tearful cheer and I could vividly remembered the holler and holler of victory! Back then, we were just merely practising on our own during every weekend. So desperate and longing for a coach, too bad, volleyball wasn't the priority for the school but athletics, athletics and more athletics. =/Nonetheless, due to passion and team spirit, we had each other to cross the battle fields every year. Well, we didn't manage to crown the competitions. Still, memories were enough for us to move on and experiences were gained. Through volleyball, I've got to know and strengthened the bonds within some friends. I am still missing those days. I seriously do. =)
This my first jersey during Form 1.
it was my first attempt getting a jersey with my name's on.
I was excited back then and the jersey is still with me!
comfy ^^ number 16. O_O"
then move on with Form 2, 3, 4 & 5!
that ended my volleyball journey in Canossian Convent.
I quite like this jersey. =)
Final year, playing for Convent, those were the days.
the girls' crazy days with balls and exams.
High school time was even challenging and interesting. That's when we studied form 6 and got to know our rivals all over the district who so happened to study form 6 in the same high school. So, yea... we've all became a team and united. Yet, we still lost the game. That's quite absurd. Maybe the chemistry just wasn't there. =X
No more name in the jersey but only "STK" - Sekolah Tinggi Kluang.
a school which everyone yearns to enrol into but not me. =.=
even parents will be so proud of the child if he got his feet into it.
i do not like a school which is not student-oriented but result-oriented which the Principle only appeared twice for the entire form 6 years- orientation and before STPM- to give pressure for scoring As for the school. -.-
My ex-principle was right, she mentioned, we would realise how much we'll treasure Canossian Convent when we are out of this bed of roses.
In uni, due to interest and a tiny bit of leftover passion, I've joined in volleyball team for a while. The irresponsible me, dropped myself out of the team after a few months. Reason behind, I just couldn't fit in into the team's culture. =X Sigh. Nonetheless, it's never too bad to get to know new friends and played for uni. =)
I think this jersey is the best.
the quality was perfect and i often wear it at home or playing badminton for now. =X it's cooling! :) dry off easily. thus, won't be sticky after sweating.
Till now, I am still missing volleyball and my team. I am. Since there's no way to frame my big jerseys up, thus, some pictures display for my volleyball journey and the remembrance. =)) It started off with no. 16 and ended with 6. Guess that's quite a good ending? :) I prefer 5 still! =D

a quick recap of 2009

It's the last day of 2009. It has been quite a fulfilling year, with the loves of family and friends, what's more, with the add-on of new colleagues, which also means, more new friends. It's funny how we look back those days, and you reminisce 'em, yet, you're moving on with 140km/h. Did a few collages with all the events' pictures taken throughout 2009.
So, what have I done this year?
To cut it short, i guess 2009 is a great year. There's always win-win-lose-lose circumstances. I've finally fulfilled one of my birthday wishes after 2 years time. Yes. After 2 years. O_O" I've made one and two close friends who can share and pour my hearts. I've got special birthday celebrations. I've lost my grandpa during my birthday week. I've got my cousins relationship elevated into another level. I've achieved what I wanted myself to be in uni. I've stepped my foot into other country for a trip. I've got a stable job. I've got to know the angels cum mentors that God sent. I thought I've put myself away from certain friendships. Most importantly, I've got my mind thinking through a lot of things, cracking my skull, entangling my brain cells for some decisions made.
All in all, I am thankful for being able to sit down, reflecting my 2009 in this quiet peaceful night, where everybody had gone out for countdown? =) I am not regretful, coz being able to stay healthy, rest and recharge myself well, to welcome the year of 2010, is already a blessing.
In the year 2010, I hope I can:
Improve my social skills
Brush up my softskills
Further my studies and practical skills
Searching my faith
Spreading the messsage of love to people around me.
Continue to be in the helping ministry, extending my helping hands.
Never stop trying. Be persistent. Don't give up!!
Let us work hard, strive hard, play hard and pray hard for a better 2010! =D

the art of working

So, i've been sticking my butt for quite some time in this job. If were to count the days from part time to internship to full time job, it should be about 1/2 year? time flies indeed. =)
Had a lil meeting-chat with our boss and the unit today before we knocked off. I am happy that our unit is running on a smooth sailing. Just like our logo, the gull is ready to soar. Honestly speaking, i am really really happy to be in this unit where there're mentors around who are willing to teach and guide you in almost everything. And I can't describe how thankful can I be. Boss mentioned that our unit is crazy and she hopes that we can spread some joy to others in the office as well.
We laugh and giggle always, despite of the stress level that all of us are going through during this critical audit period. Well, I have to admit that we laugh too much. It can be irritating to others sometimes, but we... simply... -.-" cannot control the laughters, especially those tearful laughters. There are jokers around. =)) too many (I) influential people around us among the D.I.S.C. More so, boss commented that we have a great leader, whom we call her our mother very often lately. Her leadership is very people-oriented, at the same time, work-oriented. She had set a great example to me, seriously. =)
You see. Social skill is really important. In working life, apart from soft skill, we need to have a certain attitude to keep our performance on par. I would say initiative and proactive are very crucial elements. We're working in team, we have to keep our speed at the same pace and update with each other. Moreover, teamwork and team spirit are important as well. You know, bonding time is priceless, especially during lunch or after office hour. =) We've been practising open communication often, and today, our mother said that, it really depends how mature a person to receive and interpret the message during open communication. Well, it's true. Up until now, my unit has not much problem in this. Most probably we're people-oriented coz some are the counsellors? I donno. But it just work perfectly here.
2010 is in less than 24 hours and for the first time, I wish for working purpose, that our unit can continue to grow and our working relationship and friendship can continue to be closer. We're ready to take up the challenge in 2010. Mother said, we don't acknowledge a problem as problem, it's forever a challenge! GAMBATEH!

the 700th post just for Christmas

Christmas, a season of giving. I always lovvvvvve Christmas. So much to be looking forward to. So much anticipation of the Christmas deco. So much fun to wrap Christmas gifts. So much gratitude to be in place when receiving gifts from your loved ones. =) I always used to say, we don't have to wait until Christmas to give love. Everyday is a lovey day. We ought to treat people nicely. However, to me, Christmas is an intention. It's an intention for people to give love and to forgive one's sin. It was a special day created by God.

the mini christmas tree at home =)
it was up when i reached home at 12am 25th Dec. It's homey.
and i felt it's the best tree of the year 2009. =D
so, we also had a team of choir.
carolling at home =D
love them all!
taken in JB Tebrau. Big boxes of gifts.
lots of events that day. @_@" human like ants.
headache after shopping. O______o"
A very elegant angel which i just received. I think the angel needs an extra care and it will definately train my "feminine" side of being a gentle one. Thanks Steph! =)) Love it. ^^

a box of handmade chocolate and message by Hui Ru. =))
Yummy! Thanks a million! touched =D
A gift from my supervisor, May. =) 2010 Calender. Love it too!
I was struck by my friend's blog the other day. He mentioned "family is always my priority right after God". He didn't get to celebrate Christmas with his family for 3 years down the road. His words, his expression, had deeply carved in my heart. What's far better than our family? As I grow, i gradually feel the importance of family (which I honestly admit that I didn't feel the same way during teenagehood). Now, family places in my first thought, which I thought it's a good change. =))

I wonder this considers as a christmas surprise or not. My aunt passed me these pics. That's me! =) I missed the bolster doll! =) My grandma was in the pic too! Simply memorable. Thinking about my childhood, i had almost everything. Shall not complain anymore.

spent my Christmas Day with ah-mah in Jb. =) She said she camera shy, still, quite a good pic. ahmah, don't always say i can't speak hokkien. =X

mummy and i at ah-mah place. =D

after a long day in JB, we still went out for din-sup (dinner + supper) at Barney's! and we met Soofei! =D our good friend. ^^

my sista! =D

the next day, i had a small short gathering with friends.

Some post thoughts of christmas: wrapping a gift is very very fun thingy! and it's mysterious. Imagine, ppl are shaking the gift to guess what's inside. (or am i the one who only does that?). I think wrappers really play a crucial role. It creates a great feeling. At least, a wrapped gift derives the mysterious feeling in me! :)

I love to send out gift to people that i love. =) and the moment i receive gift from friends, the feeling, simply speechless. I felt the love, i really do. Thank you. Merry Christmas people. Hope you guys had a great one. ^^
