post thought over a call...

Today is Mothers' Day. It's a day of celebrating the noble mothers. It's also a day to be happy for. Yet, i am blogging it here because i am not with my mum now. Happy Mothers' Day, Mummy! :) you know I always love you, respect you and accept you for who you are, just like how you do to me. :)
Mothers' Day triggers my thought of the past experience that I went through couple days ago. External phone rang. I wonder why i always have that kinda twitching moments when i heard the external caller ringtone. And so I picked up. It was a helpless call from a mother.
"I would like to seek for some advices regarding my son."
"Okay... how about your son?"
*and so, the conversation was like on and on and on and on for about 10 mins.*
I felt sorry for the mother. I really am. Mother always worry for the child, even for the child's academic no matter how a grown-up you are, be it 18, 19 or 23. The trend has changed. Parents not just worried about the academic, but more so towards the child's growth and mental/emotional development. She sought for counselling for her child who is rebellious, worrying that the son might diagnose with depression after a long time miscommunication among the family members. Struggling with financial constraits, having dilemma over OVER showering concern to a mild handicapped kid, deep down in my heart, i really want to extend my helping hands to her, hoping the kid would hop over to the counselling room and exclaim for help. We're trying our very best. :) Some follow-up calls were made.
Dear all, no matter what happens, we must always remember, there's always family members for us to lean onto. Treasure your time and spread your love, do not wait until it's too late for everything. :) That phone call ignited my thought. Did I ever make my parents worry to this extent?

Family. Trust. Culture.

We grow in a family.
Family plays such a big role in one's growth, especially parents.
Seeing parents bringing their kids to the university makes me ponder. Why on earth a kid of 18-19 years old needs his parent to come over to check the details? Shouldn't he or she can be independent enough to settle all these by himself? I wonder to myself partly because my parents weren't there during that point of time. Or they were too busy for such life event of mine? Or maybe there's certain level of trust instilled in me by them? I believe it's the latter :)
Trust.
Something can't be seen. I feel, parents should trust their kids in learning how to make decision. Freedom to choose is very very crucial for one's development, be it mentally or emotionally. It boosts the self esteem and self confidence in searching the right path. Honestly speaking, i have the freedom to choose, to choose what i want to study, to choose what i want to be in the future, with the support of my family. However, that doesn't mean the child can misuse this freedom to do something out of norm. It bears certain responsibility. It's like... you're doing at your own risk. As a child, we should always appreciate the chances given by parents. :) We must learn how to think for ourself and on behalf of your loved ones. Nonetheless, i believe those protective parents are over possesive towards their kids. They just don't want us to be hurt.

Chinese family. I have no bias against any of the chinese family coz i AM from a chinese family. Just that, i feel, the culture wasn't properly being educated. The kiasu-ness and the money minded culture really can bring a child down. Why must only we do things which have advantage on ourself before others? Why is this culture actually existing? You know, selfishness does kill people? Again i must say, no man is an island. We might need someone's assistance in any time, any day. Please. Chop off such attitude and thinking. It's terrible for the social system and the development of our next generation. IT'S TIME FOR A CHANGE!

:) good to go!

Have been working like a bull these two days.
seriously. It was hectic.
but a fulfilling one. :)

The freshie camp is ready to charge!
I am so going to compensate what we've lost last year.
Was it last year? Hmmm.
For all that we've prepared.
For all the sweat and tears we've shed.
It's time for a big bang! :)
UCSIans! Are you ready?! :)

Spending time and making effort is very important.
The class today made me realised something pivotal.
I love to listen to the wise man. Man in terms of woman and man.
I learn the lessons taught.
In life, we really in need to shoot up our tolerance level.
Each trial in life, may elevate into different end result,
with the patience instilled.
We don't act recklessly upon that subject matter,
instead, we hold on and check.
It's hard to keep my head cool. Really hard.
But no harm trying. It's good for a change. =)
I will need to give myself a try too!

Say a lil prayer.
Not just for yourself.
Too, for our loved ones, even for our colleagues and company.
It's good to go to office...
with a joyful heart and to end our day in a lighter note. =)
I am enjoying my work, enjoying the moment with colleagues, the team spirit, the togetherness and the fighting spirit that we have for each other.

O for Opportunity

Generation like us lead a very good life.
We have the opportunity to be educated.
We have good family to take care of us.
What's there to complain about?

Was chatting with a few friends of mine.
Knowing some are still studying.
Some are finishing their studies.
People study despite of their age.
People like me, are blessed enough to finish my degree.
Get a proper job. Move on with life.
For some, due to inadequate academic qualification,
they remain at the same pace.
and only till now, they realise it's so good to study.
and its' importance.
not because they didn't know it's crucial to study
but they couldn't study at that time.

Ironically, I always witness circumstances such as,
people want to study but they can't.
due to financial constraint, geographical issue and stuff like tat.
and some people don't study but they have everything ready.

Human. Never feel contented.
I pray for those who're still studying
to learn and to be enlightened.
Nothing is too late. :)

我们真的是幸福的。

S for savior

Sometimes, we just got to remember
"Counsellor is not a savior."

Getting involved in the helping relation has made me realised a number of values in life. Apart from passion, there are many other elements that we need to take care of. First, the will to be persistent and be firm. Students come in and aspect you to help. Some exceptional cases may threaten you, to help, if not... blablabla. Some parents can even call in and say "What counsellor are you when you don't know how to assist in this issue? How sincere are you?" Deep down inside, we just merely want to help the students. We just got to prepare ourselves and not being swayed by others. Be firm with where we're standing. Though i am not a counsellor yet, but looking at different circumstances from colleagues, i am learning to be firm with my point of view. I am thankful for them teaching me at work.

Nobody likes to be judged, especially when your hardwork wasn't seen but judged. What's more, your sincerity and your workload are being questioned by others? Counselling is such a beautiful career to be in, it is personal, it is one-to-one job where a professional explore an individual's life OR it can be a job where the counsellor is making impact to a group of students. We don't have to use a hailer and tell the whole world about the cases that we're handling.

The expectations that we hold within ourselves can kill us, but we just have to remember that being in this helping relation doesn't mean we are savior. The ultimate savior is God himself. Thus, so long we've tried our best, it may not work out for everything, but i always believe we will make a lil difference in people's life. Don't let guilt overtake you.

Be the genuine self. Try our best in everything.
It's great to see you smile. =)

=X

Mama used to tell me this,
"When we work, we work diligently, we try our best to work."

As I grow, i quite agree with what my mum said.
Though i always contradict her.
Sometimes when she notes something for us to remember,
I will take it as "Noted, but later."
My "later" can be for the future usage.

Sometimes, i feel human really misuse a lot of things.
God gave us mouth to speak, to voice out opinions.
But not spouting nonsense.
People always say the word politic
I always think to myself
If only people are generous, not selfish
If only people are not so self protective
If only people are not so sarcastic
Word hurts more than an action.

The world is seriously gonna be so beautiful
when we use our mouth wisely.

S for Self

Self-pity
something which seems so real.

We always complain
how terrible our circumstances are
how pathetic we are
how poor we are
how bad we've done this or that
how lousy
pat our shoulder and said "Well, no point arguing, life's gotta move on."

We're being brought up in such culture...
to be reserved.
to be not so proud over what we have.
until the extent of not knowing it's always a blessing
knowing how priviledged we are.
to be able to live
to grow and learn from diff people
to love and to appreciate

Self pity
I realised it's been with me for quite awhile.
I must learn to get rid of it gradually.
Eventually, i'll know how blessed i am...
*although i know i am a blessed girl*
to be able to appreciate the air i breathe.
to love people who love me lots. =)

I AM WORTHY IN THIS WORLD!
I KNOW I AM!
NANA loves u and me!

belief system

i used to think
everything i do
is for my own good.

everything i've planned
it's created by myself.

now, my thoughts seem to be distorted a lil.
i begin to feel
it's not just about me.
my life stories ain't just about me.

instead, it is like...
given by God.
for me to go through all these.
it may be a form of gift, or a challenge.

no wonder
people always say
we must be humble
in everything we do.
because God is always watching over us.
be it the good times or the bad times.

B for breathe

Being able to breathe normally every single day is the most blessed action on earth. Thank God for pulling me through these three disastrous days. I am much for better after the medication. Within these days i was like "Am i dying? How come my chest so pain?" It's like a timed bomb installed in my heart which seriously brought me the thought of the world ends.

I am such a clingy child. Seriously. I called dad and talked. Crying ended my stories. =_=" sighs. I never grow. I always make him worried about me. But you see, everytime, family is always our greatest support. =) His words calmed me down so much.

So, the root cause of my chest pain was my chest muscle swollen. Heart beat was fine. Lung was fine. Doc said, "Aggressive sports?...no... Stress?...a little." Yea... so, relax! April was scary. Lots of things to be juggled, in which, sometimes i have the tendency to be at the denial stage. Not to think about it too often, yet in turned another way round. =_=" Don't take myself too seriously. and stop taking my job too seriously too. =X
What's more, treasure our every single day of life. Really. We must create a fruitful life without regret.
Alright peeps! I am okay :)

E for Effort

Sometimes,
it's just so easy to say
"I don't want this."

Rejection, a noun which is easily sound yet painfully rings.
How many of us actually see the effort behind each curtain?

What's more
being the murderer all by yourself?
It's actually a metaphoric kinda murderer, not literally.
That you have to kill somebody
but you don't wish to.
still, you have to.

It's really hardcore.

Sometimes, maybe...
we just need to give praise.
Learn. to. give. more. praise.
Be gracious and appreciative.
Coz we never know...
how much effort that the person had made.
especially when you're seeing the hardwork of the person.
What's best for a person to grow?
I NEVER NO.

Monday, April 12

$ for budget

It's always advisable
to create a proper budget
for our daily usage.

and i've been telling myself this
over and over again.

The saved money
the figure (______)
just wouldn't get any higher.

Next months onwards...
I will need to create a budget. :)
Please.
WALK THE TALK! =D

Somebody please remind me. =(
Thank you. :)

M for ME!

Some point in times.
I am afraid.
I am worried.
I am running out of idea.

Sometimes
it's not just about me.
it's really NOT just about me.
the picture is bigger than it seems.
stop.
the emo'ny me. :) smile

Tuesday, April 6

Points taken

During the class today
we've learned a handful of points which are very useful.

When we want to solve the problem
we have to go into the problem
rather than thinking hard just to solve the problem before that.
If we never go through the problem
how do we know we can actually solve it?

People would always claim that those who are able to solve the problem are those who're the most successful one. However, the class today made me realised that,

We, human will always grow
through problem and difficulties but not through solution.

Also, it's the human nature that when we're angry, we rant.
It's always normal for us to get provoked and provoke the others.
None of us is perfect and today i've learned,

It's okay to walk away sometimes.
Some problems are just not meant for us to solve it
but to just DEAL with it.
It's okay to minimize the eye contact
for it shall reduce the miscommunication/misunderstanding.

Being and doing.
Phonetic yet with such a different spelling.
At times,
it's good for us to focus on being rather than doing. :)
Don't you think so?

If we were to be a human, always, be a good one.

C for Challenge

Right.
I must face all the challenges that come by.
I must.
and I will overcome it!
and i know
there are people running along the journey with me.

A for absolut

Don't get me wrong
There's no typo :)
But why absolut without an "e"?
In life, nothing is absolute.
The "e" is for us to explore.
To me, there's always something that stretches our lines.
for us to probe deeper
find out in a retro and introspective ways :)

Today i've learned something new.
We're living in a post modernism era.
Nothing is absolut'e anymore.
Even a normal object can turn out to be a kinda fine art
for us to judge.

Agreed with what the pastor said.
In a modern era,
People give others room to say something.
"So, what your opinion?"
"What say you?" =D

We must learn to accept and give in for people.
We must learn how to let others to voice out their opinion.
We must learn how to change for a betterment.
Be humble, for you to learn better.
*I am trying to learn the above statements*

Maybe in life, there's nothing absolut'e
and maybe we're just looking it at a very different perspective.
maybe all of us are just right
when there's no answer for it.

However,
if we continue to live in a post modern world
we may end up
having people to be killed and start killing.
having people to be abused and start abusing.
having people to be hurt and hurt by others.
That's why.
Law comes into picture.
We're somehow in a lawful world.
Just like how a Christian should abide to what the bible says.

3 + 4 = ?
Some might say 7
Some might say 12
Some might even say it's 5. (coz it's no 3 no 4) HAHA!

Leaving it with a question mark
give people a space of imagination.
run the thought and start thinking.
But, fret not.
There's always a correct answer.
Don't worry about the decision that you've made.
I believe, the decision that each of us makes
is always the decision that's best of your interest and for others'. :)

Happy Easter, everyone.
I've learned something new today :)
Just a small portion of sharing...
God died for our sins and resurrected for justification.

Friday, April 2

O for ownership

At times,
i just feel that ownership is sucha prevalent thing.

When you have the ownership towards something
sense of belonging will be the next gift for you. :)
When we're creating something out of nothing
we're like creating a branding for it

This post of mine wasn't just out-of-the-blue or random
ive been having this thought for quite sometimes
be it during student days or working period

Let's take Psych Club per say
from the scratch it began
from zero to one is something to be blessed with
to have people to build it up together
to see it develops
from an unknown to known

Let's take VOIZ-bulletin per say
it's our first baby at work
a work that drives us crazy but always come with a surprise
personally, i am quite attached to VOIZ.
VOIZ isn't only about our unit
but it involves uni editorial board and creative team
and we're working together as one
it's something we really wanna do for students
to create awareness through it
to have an educational reading material around the campus
to write something in a different role/perspective

Without the ownership
i feel it will influence one's sincerity towards the things u're pursuing
Without the ownership
it seemingly like having the eyes but without a vision
Without the ownership
we never walk an extra mile for things that we're doing
Without the ownership
we're like coming out of nowhere and heading the road without an aim

All in all,
the things i've mentioned above...
these are my babies...
which i had the sense of ownership under it..
and i would like to own it with the presence of my teams :)
to share the excitement and happiness :)

Script of My Life is also a site that i owe it completely, thoroughly and genuinely. :)

F for...

Certain friends,
you would want to keep them for long.
you care for them. you love them. you cherish them.
you'll do heart-to-heart talk with them.

Certain friends,
you don't get to see them very often.
yet, the feeling is still the same, no matter what.Certain friends,
the chemistry is there.
you're comfy to establish partnership with them.

Certain friends,
can guide you in life.
they lead you for a betterment.
they're like mentor.
Certain friends,
you would keep them for some distances,
get in touch once a while and the feeling is still great.
then both of you'll be out for a while.

Certain friends,
you just think they can merely be acquaintances.
you know their names, they know yours.
that's it.

Certain friends,
they come with a hi, end with a bye.

So, who are you to your friends?
Who are they to you?
I leave you to ponder.

shaking my head

i just don't understand.
why can't i be a more detailed person?
i just need 5%-10% of conscientiousness essence in me.
i am not greedy.
just 5%-10%. =(

i wish myself to be more particular in drafting things out.
especially important and formal document.
so that i don't have to bother others
to amend this and that.

@_@"
all these repetitive matters
are making me feel as though
i've never learned and improved.
muddle-head.

CANNOT BE LIKE THAT ALWAYS.
