Day 2

Woke up at 4.30am today coz PP (aunt's dog) was wandering around me, and again 5.30am and 6am again (PP slept with me last night... haha). I thought it was morning already coz the sun was hanging half way up the sky. It's a season changing period and right now the sun rises and sets earlier. 5.30pm in Taiwan is like 8pm in M'sia. =_= 5.30am is like 7.00am in M'sia. =.=

Today, uncle brought me out for my 1st breakfast in Taichung. =) In love with the ambience and the people there. Guess its' name : "Cafe Yestoday" with the slogan "Yesterday was gone yet today lives". This cafe has a lil corner with books and jazz music was played. A good morning with friendly smile from the peeps there indeed brightened up the day. =)

Uncle ordered his fav american breakfast set for me which spreaded with light garlic toast, bacon, veggie salad and omellete as well as a cuppa coffee. I had to say, this is my ideal breakfast list. =))
Today first pit stop was my aunt and uncle's univeristy "Tunghai University". And yes, it's a Christian based university due to the Americans. However, according to uncle, the Americans proposed to use chinese culture design since they were in Taiwan back then.. how liberal was those days. =)

Uncle graduated from the School of Architecture, yes, he designs. This dataran was designed and proposed by him and he thought of this place for students to protest. =_= This place was built after he won the competition during his studies. Never realised my talkative bubbly uncle was someone "noble" like this. O_O" Well, he still is. Haha! =D

This university really amazed me with its' buildings. It was just as old as Convent School times. Haha! Nonetheless, its design was like back to those chinese dynasty period. =D
This building was the oldest and now it's their Student Affairs Office. @_@" Under this building used to have water. Like a building on the pond but now it's transformed into grass. =X

The campus walkway with so much so much of greenery. The trees were old and still standing firm on the ground. Uncle commented that there's actually a reason to build the two walkways as such. The distance between both walkways is 30m, in which, according to psychology, 30m is just nice for a social distance between two person and people are able to listen to you if you speak opposite to each other. I just think people back then were smart indeed. =)

a bit like temple. =_=" but it's actually their entrance to each faculty. =D

their lecture rooms without any storey. =D So, the campus is really huge. =X

this is their library where students used to protest due to the design. They felt it wasn't match with what they used to have. Well, people moved on.

the bell rang. I mean, really rang. =X
students flooded the campus.

Came to TungHai Uni without taking this picture means you nv entered Taichung. This chapel is located near the entrance of Tunghai Uni and it's actually the famous landmark for tourists. I met an uncle from Denmark and i told him i was from Msia and he was so surprised and kept on telling Msia is a good country! =DDD He's been there for 4 times. O_O" and he complimented us by saying peeps in Msia speak English well. He's fascinated by the Chinese culture in Msia (and i wonder why and how). Haha! =D

Uncle said this chapel design was originated from the idea of praying (both hands putting together as one). =)

the culture of the uni is, every building's height cannot be higher than this chapel. If there is, they need to use the trees to hide over it. As i observed, really true one wor. @_@"

freshmen had to complete their services to keep the campuses clean for a year. It's compulsory service, else, u simply can't move on. =D

Apart from Tunghai Uni, there's Tunghai Secondary which connects with the university under the same area and campuses.

Same goes to Primary Tunghai. =) which is just opposite the Tunghai Secondary.

After University tour, we hopped the car and headed to suburban area called 新社. It's a suburban hill places where people live up there and leading a peaceful kampung life. Hehe. Got to see a lot of colourful paper windmills along the roads and it's definately windy up the hill.

The most famous thing on the hill is mushroom. There's this "Mushroom Street". People planted mushroom and sell it. The mushroom turned into lots of varieties after being processed. =D Yummy. =)
This place is a Mushroom Farm, Restaurant, Souvenirs. A 3in1 mushroom territory. =D
So in love with its architecture. =D We had mushroom steamboat on the 1st floor. The design was all with wooden boards. =) like a mini cottage named 菇菇熊.
was in 1st floor and the trees were right above. can't see. Hehe!
Luckily we ordered for 1 person portion. =.= Are taiwanese really a big eater or what? So big its' portion.
Lovely BIG bear bear! =))
Went into mushroom rumah. Hehe! Dark and cold yet they were still standing strong. =)
my favourite mushroom of all: 杏苞菇!Tasted perfect! =D
Behind are all the habitat for mushroom and it's being displayed like an exhibition.
Guess this is the most common one. =D
There's this organic veggie farm. =)
As we headed down the hill, there's a chinese temple god parade. Firecrackers, drums and everything that they could do to hike up the atmosphere. To me, it's noise pollution. O_O" Uncle said these people were so into praying and don't need to work. S.W.E.A.T.
At downtown of Taichung while waiting aunt to knock off from work.
This is their Science Center.
Didn't get the chance to enter because it was quite late ady, will go there again some other day, will blog again. ^^
So, we were walking around the garden of the Science Centre.
This is the house of boats. =D
Then, lining up for Beef Noodles. =X almost 1/2 hour we waited for two bowls of noodles and it's a stall by the street. Well, it's famous, yes.
A side dish that everyone orders. I love the toufu skin. =D
This is the bowl of beef noodles. Very generous spread of beef. =.=
Of course generous, coz this bowl is about rm9.30! OMG. =X I shared with aunty because i was full still. The meat was tender. =) The ramen, yummy! =D It's even tasted better when i added some homemade dry chilies sauce. =D

A snap with aunt and me. Lots of bikes behind us. =_=
Call off the day. =))
Off for Taipei City, HuaLian, Taroko National Park tomorrow.
A mixture of urban, suburban and rural area of Taiwan for the next 4 days and i guess i'll be offline.
Toodles!
